Assignment 3

Image
Thesis: Improve your sleep cycle during quarantine To combat the lack of sunlight intake during self isolation, I have decided to experiment with the orientation of my room/walls to maximise my exposure to sunlight. Studies have shown that decreased exposure of sunlight will result in a poor sleep cycle due to the disruption to our circadian rhythm . Ever since leaving Australia to travel back to Taiwan due to the COVID-19, I have been under strict quarantine for 14 days so I wanted to explore how I can receive the maximum amount of sunlight whilst staying indoors. To further maximise the efficiency , I decided to model the orientation during the morning (9~12) Video: Does not export to mov or player, so I have uploaded it onto moodle in pptx.  Adobe Illustrator screenshot: Stl screenshot:  Models:

Initials with Fusion360

Image
Initial sketches of my initials (R.C.K) I was able to flex around with the different dimensions and orientations of the individual characters, allowing some interesting lofts to be made.  As I was lofting my initials, initially (pun intended) they would not loft due to the orientation between my "R" and "C" having too sharp of a curve thus unable to make the connection between the "C" and the "K" ISome Sharp Highlighting Skylight I then proceeded to play around with the different materials Snowfield Softlight Then I tried a combination of different materials to see how the different appearances interacted and affected each other. In the end I kept two combinations that I liked the most.   A combination of Mahogany wood as base and clear glass surrounding the interior of my Initials mimicking a living space within the model. Experimented with a background just to see what it woul...

Paper/Card models of room

The cardboard model was made out of an oatmeal box. The overall structure was more sound, compared to the paper models. However I cut the stairs after I made the base, resulting in relatively uneven/messy cuts which can be improved.  Stairways outside my room Failed Paper model 1 Failed Paper model 2
